Joshua Hollingsworth, PhD, PharmD

Interim Director of Research

Dr. Joshua C. Hollingsworth is an Associate Professor and Interim Director of Research at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM). He holds both a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a focus on health outcomes research.

Dr. Hollingsworth has dedicated his career to advancing medical education, research, and student mentorship. Prior to joining OCOM, he served as Discipline Chair for Pharmacology at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM)–Auburn, where he coordinated multi-campus pharmacology education and mentored dozens of medical students in research each year. His research has been supported by multiple grants, and his publications span topics including digital health, health behavior change, and medical education innovation.

At OCOM, Dr. Hollingsworth leads the institution’s growing research program, overseeing compliance, strategic planning, and the development of policies that foster a strong culture of scholarly activity. He has also been recognized for his teaching and leadership, including being named Biomedical Faculty of the Year at VCOM in 2022 and receiving the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award from the Alabama Pharmacy Association in 2016.

Beyond his academic roles, Dr. Hollingsworth has been a Certified Tiny Habits® Coach since 2017, integrating evidence-based behavior design into his teaching, mentoring, and research. He is passionate about helping students and colleagues achieve sustainable success through small, meaningful changes.

Outside of work, Dr. Hollingsworth enjoys spending time with his wife, Brittany, and their two children, Porter and Isla. Together, they can often be found exploring new adventures, big and small, as a family.
