Cost of Attendance
Student cost of attendance budgets are developed each academic year by the OCOM Office of Financial Aid and are dependent on tuition and fee structures set by the governing board. The cost of attendance (COA) may be an estimate early in the financial aid award process and is subject to change. The cost of attendance is used to evaluate financial needs and award aid and provides students with an estimate of the reasonable cost of OCOM attendance. Standard student budgets are based on typical expenses for a single student. Costs for a student's spouse or children are not included in the standard student budget.
Cost of Attendance
OCOM Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees are charged at a flat yearly rate, regardless of the actual hours in which a student is enrolled. The academic term includes the full academic year, so all courses taken during the academic year are covered. Tuition is billed twice a year: half of the cost of tuition and fees is billed each fall and spring.
Books and Supplies
Cost is estimated based on a survey of costs associated with required books and supplies. Books and supplies include required textbooks, miscellaneous supplies, and diagnostic instruments such as stethoscopes, reflex hammers, and lab coats (for first-year medical students only).
Housing and Food
The housing component assumes an average of current rates for single occupancy rental units in the surrounding community; this average is used in the standard, traditional COA budget. Students should consider housing options carefully. The food component of the student budget assumes a combination of prepared meals and grocery expenses required for cooking at home.
Transportation
Travel costs are estimated based on the average cost of payments, car maintenance, gas, and insurance.
Personal Expenses
Personal expenses for OCOM students are estimated based on costs for expenses such as clothing, toiletries, additional medical/dental, medical student expenses (compliance, journals, professional clothing, membership dues, regalia, etc.), and other miscellaneous expenses.
