Sapna Rama, DO, FACP, DABOM
Chair of Primary Care
Dr. Sapna Rama is an osteopathic internal medicine physician and Interim Chair of Primary Care at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM). She completed her Internal Medicine residency training in Hackensack, New Jersey, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year.
Following residency, Dr. Rama practiced full-time in outpatient internal medicine and served as Medical Director overseeing four regional primary care practices. In this role, she led multidisciplinary teams, supported quality improvement initiatives, and helped expand access to comprehensive primary care services.
Since joining OCOM, Dr. Rama has been a dedicated educator and academic leader committed to advancing osteopathic medical education and strengthening primary care training. She has received multiple institutional honors, including the Distinguished Faculty Award (2024) and the Positive Culture Award (2025), recognizing her commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and fostering a supportive academic environment for both students and faculty.
Dr. Rama is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM) and continues to maintain an active clinical practice in weight management in downtown Orlando. Her academic interests include preventive medicine, metabolic health, and integrating nutrition and lifestyle medicine into the medical curriculum to better prepare future physicians to address chronic disease through a holistic and patient-centered approach.
Rooted in the osteopathic philosophy, Dr. Rama is passionate about whole-person care and preparing the next generation of physicians to deliver compassionate, comprehensive primary care.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys exploring the world—from vibrant cityscapes to nature hikes—with her spouse and two children.
