OCOM Hosts First Annual Scholarship Breakfast Honoring Student Recipients and Generous Scholarship Providers

Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM) proudly hosted its First Annual Scholarship Breakfast, a heartfelt event that brought together student scholarship recipients and the generous individuals and organizations that made these awards possible. The celebration honored academic achievement, community support, and the shared commitment to shaping the next generation of compassionate, well-rounded physicians.

The breakfast recognized all OCOM students who received scholarships, highlighting their hard work, dedication, and potential. As future osteopathic physicians, these students embody the values of excellence, service, and integrity—principles that their scholarship sponsors deeply believe in and support.

In attendance were several scholarship providers and affiliated organizations, including:

  • American Osteopathic FoundationSterling K. Welch Scholarship

  • HPSP (Health Professions Scholarship Program)U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force branches

  • Dr. Gupta, CHO Life CoachingCHO Life Coaching Medical Education Scholarship

  • Andrea Palka and Diane Berg - Physicians Society of Central Florida FoundationMedical School Scholarship

Each of these individuals and organizations plays a vital role in advancing medical education by alleviating financial barriers and investing in students’ futures. Their presence at the event created a special opportunity for students to personally express their gratitude and share how the scholarships are impacting their academic and personal journeys.

“Our students are incredibly hardworking, and events like this remind us that it truly takes a community to raise a physician,” said Dr. Robert T. Hasty, Dean and Chief Academic Officer at OCOM. “We are deeply thankful for the support of our scholarship providers and proud of our students for earning these well-deserved recognitions.”

The morning was filled with warm conversations, meaningful connections, and a shared sense of purpose. It was a celebration not just of financial support, but of mentorship, opportunity, and belief in the power of education.

OCOM looks forward to continuing this new tradition, and to strengthening the bonds between students and the incredible supporters who help make their medical education possible.
