Clinical Rotations Questions
-
Our placement process allows students to submit a ranked list of their preferred clinical training regions. Using this input, our algorithm is designed to assign students to their highest available choice, maximizing the number of students placed into their number one preference. This ensures students have meaningful input into where they will complete their last 2 years of clinical training. We completely understand that our students have a variety of reasons for their requests and we will try our best to accommodate as many requests as we can.
If students get placed outside of Central Florida for their clerkships, they will only be required to move between their 2nd and 3rd years. So the site where they were assigned will be their primary site for years 3 and 4, therefore minimizing the need to move after each rotation. While most sites offer all rotations, as of right now, some sites may require the student to do local travel to a nearby facility for some specific rotations. We have a lot more clerkship spots than we have students but we will continue to build our clerkship sites in the coming years to ensure our students are given the best possible education.
Campus Resources Questions
-
No, but OCOM will provide access to the Aetna student insurance program, which will offer access through phone, web, tele-video, and face-to-face resources, including 24-hour access to licensed healthcare providers.
The student insurance plan includes Teladoc, which offers 24/7, 365 days a year access to diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic health services wherever students are located.
All OCOM students can access facilities such as Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital Emergency Department for 24/7 emergent care.

Dress Code Questions
-
There will be designated times when students are required to dress in business casual attire and scrubs. Most on-site activities will require you to be in business casual attire, but for some activities such as labs, clinical training sessions, clinical exams, and any other clinical experiences, scrubs will be required. OMM lab requires gym clothes. The best approach to complying with the dress code is checking the LEO schedule. The dress code is normally listed on the LEO schedule and/or course syllabi.
-
Embroidery is not required, but if you choose to have embroidery, it must be the OCOM logo on the left side of scrubs.

General Questions

-
Our faculty are encouraged to attend the item writing course from the NBOME and all their questions will be in the same format as NBOME questions. They will, however, be writing their own questions. This is necessary so that they can be assured that the questions being asked are based upon the materials which the students are learning from. In addition to writing the questions, the faculty also cross-references them to the NBOME Blueprints, from which the NBOME exams are based.
-
