Tiffin University has recently established an articulation agreement with the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM). The agreement guarantees TU students an interview if they meet OCOM’s admission requirements.

OCOM is a new, high-tech osteopathic medical school that offers a four-year education program leading to a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO). OCOM started developing in 2019 and was officially established in 2021.

Tiffin University and OCOM desired to create and cooperate in a guaranteed interview program by which qualified students are offered interviews in connection with possible admission to OCOM by following a distinct academic protocol and demonstrating high achievement. The Guaranteed Interview Program acknowledges the rigor and quality of the pre-medical studies at Tiffin University. It is a pathway designed to affirmatively advance graduates of Tiffin University who perform well at the undergraduate level into the admissions process at OCOM. Tiffin University agrees to cooperate with OCOM by referring students interested in pursuing a medical education and engaged in pre-medical studies to OCOM no later than their third year of undergraduate studies.

The Guaranteed Interview Program will be made available to all Tiffin University students and alumni each academic year who meet all general admission requirements: including minimum Medical College Admission Test and grade point average as published on OCOM’s website at the time of application, complete all required prerequisite courses as published on OCOM’s website at the time of application and apply for admission to OCOM.

“We are excited for this partnership and friendship with Tiffin University to provide additional opportunities for their graduates and alumni to become caring and competent physicians,” said Dr. Robert T Hasty, DO, FACOI, FACP, Dean and Chief Academic Officer at Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine. “Tiffin University has over one hundred years of experience in higher education and we are thrilled to welcome future OCOM students who have been educated there.”

“The nation currently suffers from a serious physician shortage, especially in the primary care arena,” said Dr. Chet Evans, Tiffin University Board of Trustees Member, President and CEO of AnchorMed and Educational Consultant and Clinical Professor at OCOM. “Articulation agreements, such as the one between OCOM and Tiffin University, facilitate and help to provide a more direct pipeline for medical schools to recruit a quality, motivated and diverse entering class of future physicians. The team at OCOM is pleased and delighted to have such a partnership with Tiffin University!”

“The articulation agreement with the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine marks an exciting opportunity for Tiffin University students interested in pursuing a career in medicine,” explained Dr. Mark Sabo, Dean of the School of Science, Technology and Health and Professor of Forensic Science and Chemistry at Tiffin University. “By guaranteeing our students an interview if they meet OCOM’s admission requirements, we are providing them with a clear pathway to one of the most innovative medical schools in the country. Through this partnership, we are facilitating opportunities, contributing to the solution for the projected physician shortage and addressing society’s needs. This agreement resonates deeply with Tiffin University’s vision to be a premier university for challenging students to enhance their global competencies and 21st-century skills, preparing them for success in a diverse world.”
