Welcoming OCOM's Regional Site Directors to Campus: Strengthening Partnerships for Clinical Excellence

Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM) had the pleasure of welcoming its regional site directors to campus. This pivotal meeting was more than a formality—it marked an exciting step toward solidifying clinical education pathways for future OCOM students. The directors met with key departments, including Faculty Development and the Library, to ensure that the institution’s resources would be fully accessible to support the growing needs of clinical education across all our partner sites.

Collaborating for Success
The regional site directors, who are crucial to expanding OCOM’s clinical training reach, met with the Faculty Development department to explore continuous professional growth for clinical educators. These conversations centered on best practices for supporting both faculty and students, fostering mentorship, and maintaining the highest standards in medical education.

In addition to faculty development, the directors engaged with our Library team to explore how OCOM’s academic resources could be available to clinical faculty off-site. With access to a rich database of medical literature and innovative learning tools, both faculty and students at remote locations will benefit from the same world-class resources available on the main campus. This ensures that no matter where students are training, they have the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.

Expanding Clinical Faculty Networks
Another key focus of the visit was discussing the recruitment of additional clinical faculty. The regional site directors are responsible for building strong, supportive environments at their respective sites. By recruiting high-quality clinical educators, OCOM aims to ensure that students are exposed to a broad range of medical specialties and experiences. These faculty members will play an integral role in shaping the next generation of osteopathic physicians, with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered care.

A Future of Collaboration and Excellence
This collaborative effort between OCOM’s main campus and its regional site directors marks a significant milestone in our mission to provide innovative and comprehensive medical education. As we continue to expand, the partnerships and resources established during this visit will play a critical role in ensuring that every OCOM student receives unparalleled clinical training.

We are excited about the future and look forward to seeing the impact our regional sites will have on the development of our students and the communities they will serve. With strong leadership from our regional site directors, combined with the support of OCOM’s faculty and resources, we are well on our way to creating a new standard of excellence in osteopathic medical education.
