Pre-Clinical Education
During the first two years at Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM), students will build a strong foundation in the biomedical sciences while honing clinical and communication skills essential for patient care. Through an integrated curriculum, early hands-on simulated clinical experiences, and a focus on osteopathic principles, students are prepared for their clinical rotations and future medical practice. Our innovative approach combines modern medical education with compassionate care, setting the stage for success in the rapidly evolving field of healthcare.

Pre-Clinical Education
OMS - I
In the first year of pre-clinical education at OCOM, students develop a deep understanding of the fundamental biomedical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pathology. Through integrated coursework and hands-on learning, they begin applying osteopathic principles and practices (OPP) to patient care. Students also engage in early simulated clinical experiences, communication training, and medical ethics, laying the groundwork for clinical reasoning and patient interaction. By the end of OMS-I, students are well-prepared to advance to more complex medical concepts and practical skills.
Pre-Clinical Education
OMS - II
In the second year of pre-clinical education at OCOM, students deepen their understanding of disease processes through comprehensive studies in pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, and systems-based clinical medicine. Building on the foundational knowledge from OMS-I, students focus on diagnostic skills, clinical decision-making, and the application of osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) in treating patients. Through case-based learning and simulation labs, they gain practical experience in managing complex medical conditions, all while preparing for the COMLEX Level 1 exam and the transition to clinical rotations.
