Physicians that serve as Clinical Faculty/Preceptors support third- and fourth-year clinical training by:
Serving as mentors who assist students in applying knowledge and building skills to problem-solve patient care.
Allowing students to participate in patient management to a degree appropriate for their level of training.
Providing written and verbal feedback to students in a constructive and timely manner.
Completing the written evaluation of the student’s performance and discussing it with the student on the last day of their rotation.

In order to serve as an OCOM preceptor, physicians must meet the following criteria:
Applying for a physician Faculty/Preceptor Appointment.
Earned and maintain Board Certification in a specialty area.
Received and maintain clinical licensure in the state of practice
Meet clinical faculty credentialing standards established by the Academic Appointment and Promotions Committee.
